Belfast International Airport is the busiest in Northern Ireland and is located 18 miles outside Belfast. Used frequently by business travellers, the airport is currently undergoing a facelift and construction works to improve its facilities, which are due to be completed in 2010.
There is a train station in Antrim, which is 6 miles from the airport. There is an hourly bus running to the station from outside the terminal building. From Antrim Station, there are trains to Belfast, Lisburn and Londonderry, between about 6 am and 10 pm.
There is a coach service from the airport to Belfast that runs 24 hours. It goes every 15 minutes during the day, but less frequently during the night. There is a coach to Londonderry operating between about 5 am and 10 pm. The coach to Lisburn goes from Antrim bus station, which is next to the train station. It runs between about 6 am and 6 pm.
For those arriving by car there is parking available at the airport. However, there are hotels nearby offering free long stay parking, so it might work out cheaper and more convenient to book a room for the night and get the car parking included.
The Short Stay & Pick Up and Main car parks at the airport are within easy walking distance of the terminal building. The former is suitable for stays of a few hours and the latter is aimed at business and short break passengers. The Long Stay car park is further away and is served by a courtesy bus to the terminal. The best prices are obtained by pre-booking online. They start at £3 a day for Long Stay. The car parks are manned 24 hours a day and reserved spaces are available for frequent flyers.
There are a couple of off site car parks near Belfast International Airport. They also offer courtesy transport to and from the terminal building, so it’s worth shopping around to see if you can get a cheaper price.
