East Midlands Airport parking, directions, transfers
This airport is located in the village of Castle Donington and surrounded by the cities of Nottingham, Leicester and Derby. It mainly serves the local counties which are named after those cities. The airport has gone through a few name changes, sparked by worries that foreigners wouldn’t know where in the UK the East Midlands were.
There are 24 hour Skylink coach services linking the airport to the centres of Nottingham, Leicester, Derby and Loughborough. The coaches from Derby, Loughborough and Nottingham pick up passengers from the railway stations in those cities. However, the nearest train station to the airport is actually the new East Midlands Parkway, from where there is a shuttle bus to the terminal every 30 minutes, between 7 am and 11.30 pm.
The airport’s proximity to the M1 makes it easy to reach by car. For those travelling in their own vehicles, there are a number of long and short stay car parks available at the airport.
The Short Stay car park is directly opposite the terminal. It is free for the first 10 minutes and suitable for stays of up to 12 hours. If you need to leave the car for longer than that, it is cheaper to use the Long Stay car parks, even though there is a minimum 2 day charge for these. You can walk to the terminal from Long Stay car parks 1 to 4. Car parks 6 and 7 are further away and therefore cheaper. They are a 10 minute shuttle bus journey from the terminal. All of them have CCTV and have been given the Parkmark Secure Parking Award. They have Automatic Number Plate Recognition systems (ANPR) which let you exit quickly. There is also a meet and greet service available where a driver will park your car for you. Discounts are available if you pre-book online.
There is also an off site car park near East Midlands Airport. East Midlands Airparks Express offers courtesy transport to the terminal.
