Manchester Airport Guide

MAN, Manchester, M90 1QX, UK

This is the busiest airport in the UK outside London.  It offers both scheduled and charter flights to more than 190 destinations all over the world.  This, along with its excellent viewing facilities, makes the airport a favourite with plane spotters.  One of the Concorde Fleet is now housed here, and you can book a tour to have a look around inside and learn more about it.

There is a train station at the airport with direct, 24 hour services to Sheffield, York, Newcastle, Leeds, Huddersfield, Bolton, Preston, Blackpool and the Lake District.   There are also trains to Manchester Piccadilly where you can link up with trains travelling around the country.  Coach services run from the integrated transport hub at the airport to destinations across the country.  There is also a network of local buses serving the airport.

There are short stay car parks at the terminals priced at £27 per day.  They allow you to arrive at check-in by foot, all undercover.  Long stay car parks are a shuttle bus ride away and prices start at £20 for a day.

Top tip: There are 3 terminals at the airport and there are different car parks for each one, so make sure that you check which terminal you’re flying from, so that you can park in the closest and most convenient place.

Manchester Parking Guide

For those who need to park their car at Manchester Airport, there are several options, in addition to the official airport facilities.  There are a number of independent off site car parks, and if you shop around a little, you could find a better price.  Some companies also offer a meet and greet service, where they collect your car at the airport, take it away to their off site facility, and then bring it back for you on your return.

Elite Valet Parking Manchester

This is a 24 hour meet and greet service.  Undercover parking spaces are available.  A uniformed driver will meet you in the drop off area at the airport to collect the car.  All drivers are over 40 years of age, carry ID badges and are comprehensively insured.  The vehicle will be returned to you outside the arrivals car park (an airport parking fee is incurred for this, but it is paid by the company).  Frequent flyer and returning customer discounts are available.  The car can be valeted or refuelled whilst you are away, if you wish.

MAVP Limited

This valet parking company was formed in 2006 by the team from Males Garage who were the original providers of valet parking at Manchester Airport in 1955. MAVP reception is located on Styal Road, next to Shuttle Parks. With this company, you drive to the reception on arrival.  The courtesy driver then takes you to the terminal in your own car, before returning to park the vehicle at the facility.  On your return, they meet you again at the terminal and drive you back to the reception, and you then continue on your journey home.  Normal transfer time is less than four minutes. MAVP have the Park Mark award and have 24/7 on site security. A full car cleaning and care package can also be arranged while you are away. MAVP is suited to clients who appreciate a personal valet parking service but are concerned about being able to find a meet and greet agent at the airport.
